Shimla is on the south-western ranges of the Himalayas. Shimla was built on top of seven hills: Inverarm hills, Observatory hills, Summer hills, Bantory hills, Elysium hills, Prospect hills, Jakhoo hills. The highest point in Shimla is the Jakhoo hills, which is at a height of 2,454 meters. The closest river near Shimla is Sutlej is about 21km away. Christ Church is a major tourist destination of Shimla. Christ Church is located at a distance of 5.3 kilometers from the freight road. This church was built in the year 1857 on the road, it took about 3 years to complete this church. This church is also India's largest pipe organ, which you will see in one of Bollywood's biggest hits, 3 Idiots.

The ride of a toy train is a very popular journey started by Lord Curzon in 1903. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has declared this famous old ride as a World Heritage Site. This journey of 96 km is completed in 5 hours from Kalka to Shimla. This journey gives an astounding experience passing through 103 tunnels, 800 bridges and deep bridges across the trenches. Passing through the hills, green valleys, pine, and pine forests, this visit gives tourists a memorable experience. The train halts at many places in the hills, so that tourists can stay busy in the photography of amazing scenes. The speed of the train is very low, even the passengers can descend from it and go back without any danger. 

Trains are classified into different sections such as Deluxe (Deluxe Motor Rail Car and Shivalik Deluxe Express), Super Deluxe (Shivalik Queen Tourist Coach, Shivalik Palace Tourist Coach) and regular passenger carts (Kalka Shimla Express and Himalayan Queen); These trains depart from Kalka in the morning and Shimla in the afternoon.

Mall Road meets the road from Road Road in the west. Here a statue of great freedom fighter Lajpat Rai has been installed. Shimla's General Post Office is next to Scandal Point. Scandal Point is also more famous that a king from here ran away with the daughter of British Viceroy, eloped from this point and hence this place is called "Scandal Point".
